LIGHT SYMPOSIUM WISMAR 2020/21 – A FOCUS ON LIGHT AND HEALTH
Since it was first held in 2008, the Light Symposium Wismar has developed to become a prestigious expert event and a meeting place for the lighting community. This year, the three-day conference will take place online from 10 to 12 March 2021 under the banner “The Future of Daylight and Artificial Lighting in Healthy Built Environments”. The industry event, which will be held in English, is organised by the Architectural Lighting Design master’s degree course of the Design Faculty at Wismar University of Applied Sciences together with the university’s own research company, Forschungs-GmbH Wismar.
Following successful conferences in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2018 in Wismar and Stockholm, the seventh Light Symposium looks at the question of how daylight and artificial light can affect the mental and physical health of people in natural and built environments. Research, theory, technology, design and application are brought together to address the future of daylighting and artificial lighting based on the latest findings and research. The symposium creates an interdisciplinary forum for the various professions concerned with light and health and brings together renowned lighting designers, medical professionals, biologists, colour psychologists and ergonomists from Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the United States of America. To kick off the symposium on Wednesday afternoon, March 10, 2021, the international project “Light4Health” invites you to join a panel discussion.
As in the past, this year a large network once again contributes to the success of the event. For example, the organisers are supported by industry associations and institutions, German and international universities, media partners and generous sponsors in the lighting industry. WE-EF is one of them: we are a long-term supporter of the activities of the master’s degree course “Architectural Lighting Design” at the University of Applied Sciences Wismar and this year we are a gold sponsor for the Light Symposium Wismar 2020/21. Among other things, the organisers offer their sponsors an opportunity to present themselves in chatrooms and online workshops. For example, Thomas Müller, WE-EF Head of Sales DACH, is offering a workshop on the use of tunable white in outdoor applications. In a further online session he will present the Porta Westfalica bridge in Phoenix park, Dortmund, which has been showcased with tunable white since last summer.
