The Princeton University Art Museum serves as a new cultural hub at the heart of campus—designed to invite movement, interaction and discovery. Pathways extend through and around the building, creating a seamless connection between architecture, landscape and people. At night, lighting plays a key role in shaping this experience, guiding pedestrians intuitively through the space and enhancing the building’s distinctive architectural expression.

A precise and atmospheric lighting concept

The lighting design focuses on revealing the museum’s unique, saw-tooth façade while maintaining a high level of visual comfort. WE‑EF’s inground luminaires, the ETV140, were selected to deliver targeted, near glare-free illumination, creating a soft and precise wallwash that emphasizes the building’s vertical rhythm and materiality. Through carefully controlled optics, the lighting enhances spatial orientation without overpowering the architecture - ensuring a balanced night-time identity that feels both welcoming and refined.
