Bring the forest back to Bangkok urbanism

A new, greenest urban hub development, One City Centre (OCC) is designed under the concept of ‘REIMAGINE YOUR WORLD’, where sustainability and green spaces are essential to the design approach. Situated on the CBD where greenery is limited, the building offers the city a public park at the entrance, where permanent art installations are beautifully integrated into the landscape – delighting those who pass by.

A softly lit landscape, FLC301, one LED, 4 W projector provides a warm and cozy atmosphere. The projectors can be found in different mounting arrangements: (a) uplighting the trees with specially designed ground spikes; (b) tree straps used for downlighting the shrubs; and (c) surface mounted versions installed discreetly between the ceiling fins to illuminate the walkway with controlled distribution. This provides just the right amount of light for safety and navigation without any light spill into the nearby pond.

Adjacent to the landscape common area, QLS420 surface wall luminaire, mounted on a specially designed bracket, grazes the light along the 2.5 m hedges with 18 W, 3000 K, while the standard luminaire (without bracket) is installed along the driveway. Both applications accommodate rectangular side-throw distribution.

On the front side of the building façade, 31 FLC240 projectors, 104 W, with very narrow beam and sharp cut-off fitted with glare shields for eye comfort, are mounted on specially designed brackets to accentuate the building’s architectural lines with the intent to increase visibility from a distance. Installed on the fifth floor, the high-performance floodlight achieves a desired result, projecting light all the way up to the sixty-first floor, a total of 56 stories – impressive! In a similar application, FLC230/FLC240 are mounted on the same bracket type for uplighting and downlighting – a well thought-through and well-executed architectural solution with minimal obstruction, well-fitted for the application.

In short, a well-coordinated concept, together with DJCoalition Architectural Lighting Design Consultant (DJC), achieves a stunning result where light planning and WE-EF tailored solutions seamlessly integrate into modern architecture applications, pushing planning and performance to new heights.
