Sustainable Precision: Lighting solutions protecting people, places and planet

Precise and purposeful lighting

WE-EF’s advanced optical systems ensure light is directed only where needed, minimising waste and reducing light pollution through dark-sky optics and targeted illumination.

Smart energy management

Integrated control systems like Zhaga, NEMA, and CityGrid enable intelligent operation, ensuring luminaires are used only when necessary, optimising energy consumption for sustainable efficiency.

Eco-friendly color temperatures

With reduced blue light in the spectrum and the innovative "Wild-Light" technology for dual-colour temperatures, WE-EF prioritises both human well-being and the protection of light-sensitive ecosystems.

Jan Schaefer Bridge Amsterdam

The Jan Schaeferbrug bridge in Amsterdam has been revitalised with energy-efficient LED lighting from WE-EF, preserving its iconic design while reducing energy consumption by 75%. The lighting redesign, led by Hugo Hendrickx, uses customised luminaires to highlight the bridge’s structure, with contrasting light colours for functional and aesthetic appeal. The result restores the bridge’s original visual rhythm and enhances its night-time presence in the cityscape.

Wildlife-Friendly Lighting for Phillip Island’s Penguin Parade

WE-EF lighting at Phillip Island’s Penguin Parade uses amber LEDs to protect wildlife while ensuring visitor safety. Low-profile luminaires like VFL540 and DAC240 provide precise illumination, preserving the natural habitat and unobstructed coastal views. Durable and eco-friendly, the design harmonises technology with conservation.

Guiding the Way at McCarran International Airport

WE-EF lighting enhances Terminal 3’s bold, angular design, inspired by Nevada’s landscape. PIA230 wall luminaires illuminate the entry canopy, while FLA440 floodlights and DAC250 downlights create a welcoming, functional atmosphere in the taxi pick-up area. Precision lighting complements the terminal’s modern architecture and energy-efficient infrastructure.

Promoting the Landmark: The Kauffman Center

The Kauffman Center in Kansas City, designed by Moshe Safdie and BNIM, shines as a cultural landmark. WE-EF FLC141 projectors discreetly illuminate the north façade’s steel arches and concrete walls, enhancing its striking three-dimensional form. Precision lighting underscores the Center’s architectural elegance, making it a beacon on the city skyline.

IOS® Innovative Optical System

The IOS® system by WE-EF ensures precise beam control, minimising glare and unwanted light spill. The Upward Light Output Ratio (ULOR) is a measure of how much light escapes from a luminaire into the sky while DLOR stands for Downwards Light Output Ratio.
Full cut-off distribution and zero upward light (ULOR = 0%) reduce skyglow and meet environmental standards. Optimised shielding angles and optional accessories enhance performance, ensuring targeted, sustainable illumination.

Smart technologies for Night Sensitive Lighting

Smart lighting solutions bring flexibility and efficiency to architectural lighting by dynamically adjusting illumination based on presence and movement. Eco Step Dim® Motion, combined with PIR motion sensors and smart controls, enables luminaires to dim when areas are unoccupied and brighten instantly when movement is detected, ensuring both energy savings and safety. These intelligent systems can operate independently or in synchronised networks, allowing for tailored lighting scenarios that enhance ambiance while minimising light pollution.

Integration in Architecture

WE-EF offers a range of miniaturised solutions, including compact inground luminaires, discreet wall-mounted fixtures, and precision optics that deliver high performance in minimal form factors. Advanced LED technology and refined optical systems ensure that even the smallest luminaires provide excellent beam control and efficiency. By blending into façades, ceilings, or landscapes, these solutions create immersive lighting effects while maintaining architectural integrity.

Custom design with WE-EF

At WE-EF, we offer the opportunity to design custom luminaires tailored to the specific needs of your architectural project. By combining your design expertise with our advanced lighting technology, you can customise key elements such as optics, finishes, and mounting solutions. This approach ensures the luminaires integrate seamlessly into your project while meeting technical and environmental requirements. Our team works closely with you to develop solutions that align with both your aesthetic goals and performance standards, providing a balance between design and functionality.
