WORLD-CLASS LAS VEGAS MARKET CENTER A MAJOR INNOVATIVE TRADE SHOW COMPLEX

Since 2008, the World Market Center Las Vegas has been both a leader in mixed-use development and a locus of furnishing, gift and home decor retailing, design events and cutting-edge ideas, and networking with the newest in products and exhibitors. Comprising three large exhibition halls, the World Market Center is one of the world’s largest trade show complexes and the home of the semi-annual Las Vegas Market home furnishings trade show.

The Las Vegas Design Center is permanently located on two floors of Building C and open to the public throughout the year. Their First Friday programming comprises talks with architectural and design experts. The Design Series honors top designers with the Design Icon award. The 2013 winner was Barbara Barry. Former honorees have included Christopher Guy Harrison, Juan Montoya, and Vicente Wolfe.

Within the three buildings of the World Market Center’s 5 million square-foot area are thousands of showrooms. The World Market Center was designed by The Jerde Partnership, based in California and known for creating memorable community spaces, from entertainment areas to waterfronts and town centers. The Nevada engineering firm Harris Consulting Engineers completed the sleek contemporary lighting design.

In designing the three-building complex, Jerde juxtaposed the burnt sienna and ochre tones of the Nevada desert together with metallic panels of an urban landscape. The curvilinear semicircle on Building A’s facade creates a welcoming smiling effect in contrast to the sophisticated angles and glass towers of the neighboring buildings.

The central courtyard serves as the main entry point for buildings A, B and C as well as a familiar gathering and meeting point for show attendees. During the Las Vegas Market, the courtyard is transformed into an event space with live entertainment, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

The exterior lighting design creates a night-time ambience fit for an ‘A-list’ Las Vegas grand entry and event space. Custom decorative poles with WE-EF projectors line the perimeter of the courtyard providing both facade uplighting and functional downlighting. Each pole accommodates four FLC260 projectors that are attached to the pole with WE-EF mounting clamps. Facade uplights are equipped with 400 W metal halide lamps and which utilize very narrow distribution optics with a linear spread lens to create a wallwash effect. The downlight projectors are equipped with 250 W metal halide lamps with medium beam distribution. Glare shield accessories are also utilized to preclude direct view of each lamp.
