WE-EF light shields for minimising stray light
The two light shields that have been developed by WE-EF are integrated in the optics of existing luminaires as precise tools to meet strict dark sky requirements. The LS360-75 uplight shields reduce the amount of stray light emitted upwards. A special lens adapter made of clear PMMA is placed between the LED and the existing lens. It produces a somewhat more narrow-beam light distribution and reduces the luminous flux component (partial luminous flux FCL3/FCL4 ≥ 95%). The uplight shields are available for the asymmetric [R65] and [A60] lens optics of the VFL500, PFL500 and RFL500 street and area luminaires.
The photometric data of the luminaires fitted with uplight shields are available as a separate download on the WE-EF website. The LS180 backlight shields reduce the stray light escaping from behind towards the pole. Based on the “BUG” rating system for unwanted stray light, which is used internationally, including in the USA, the WE-EF backlight shields comply with the requirements of the strictest “BO” rating category for limiting backlight. They offer maximum protection for flora, fauna and people.
