WE-EF CONGRATULATES THE WINNERS OF THE SOLAR DECATHLON EUROPE AND THE LITG SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

The university team from Karlsruhe won two awards at this year’s Solar Decathlon Europe – the overall victory in the competition as well as the first LiTG Award for sustainable architectural lighting that WE-EF is pleased to have sponsored because it is a perfect match for the company’s sustainability goals.

The winning teams in the first Solar Decathlon (SDE21/22) in Germany have been known since 24 June 2022. First place went to the RoofKIT team from Karlsruhe. The VIRTUe team from Eindhoven took second place. Third place was shared by the AuRA and SUM teams from Grenoble and Delft, respectively. The students from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), under the guidance of Prof. Dirk E. Hebel, attained most points in all disciplines of the solar decathlon and thus presented the most convincing concept for the further climate-friendly construction of our cities.

In addition, on 25 June 2022, the first LiTG award for sustainable architectural lighting went to the RoofKIT team from Karlsruhe. The coLLab team from Stuttgart finished in second place, followed by the level-up team from Rosenheim in third place. As sponsors of this award, the Fagerhult brands Ateljé Lyktan, LTS and WE-EF congratulate the award winners on their convincing daylight and artificial light solutions. Ultimately, everyone is a winner with this award, because the students’ dedication shows ways forward to a future worth living in.

Sixteen university teams from 10 countries took part in the solar decathlon in Wuppertal. The event was hosted by Bergische University in Wuppertal, while the Federal Ministry of the Economy and Climate Protection (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz – BMWK) sponsored the competition.
