WE-EF’s advanced optical systems ensure light is directed only where needed, minimising waste and reducing light pollution through dark-sky optics and targeted illumination.

Integrated control systems like Zhaga, NEMA, and CityGrid enable intelligent operation, ensuring luminaires are used only when necessary, optimising energy consumption for sustainable efficiency.

With reduced blue light in the spectrum and the innovative "Wild-Light" technology for dual-color temperatures, WE-EF prioritises both human well-being and the protection of light-sensitive ecosystems.

This project at Phillip Island focuses on creating wildlife-friendly lighting for penguins and migratory birds. Amber LEDs protect Little Penguins by eliminating blue light, while controlled illumination minimises light spill and environmental impact. The design also ensures durability, with coastal protection for long-lasting performance in marine conditions.

The Penguin Parade project on Phillip Island, Australia, required a lighting solution that ensured both the safety of visitors and the protection of the local wildlife. Special attention was given to the Little Penguins and migratory birds, which could be disturbed by blue light. Additionally, the lighting had to be designed to support the architectural character of the visitor center while preserving the nocturnal atmosphere.

WE-EF developed a tailored lighting solution with amber LEDs to eliminate blue light and minimize its impact on wildlife. The luminaires were equipped with special coastal protection treatments to withstand the demanding marine conditions. By using WE-EF products, an effective and sustainable lighting solution was achieved that is both functional and environmentally friendly.

A range of WE-EF products were used for the project, including the VFL540 luminaires, which provide uniform lighting in parking areas and landscape zones. The DAC240 luminaires were installed on the canopies of the visitor center, complementing the architectural design. Of particular importance was the use of amber LEDs, which minimize the blue light content and reduce disturbance to penguins and other nocturnal animals. These products offer an eco-friendly, functional, and aesthetic lighting solution.
