Billrothgarten residential complex, Bergen of Rügen

Harmoniously integrated

Billrothgarten is a new residential complex in Bergen on the Baltic Sea Island of Rügen. The modern complex consists of five apartment buildings with a total of 80 apartments in a central and yet tranquil location. The lighting concept with bollards and pole luminaires from WE-EF provides orientation and a pleasant ambience.

Bergen is the main town on the island of Rügen. Rugard, a local housing association, invested in the construction of Billrothgarten, a comfortable residential complex that. was completed in 2021, and which stretches between Billrothstraße and Gartenstraße. WE-EF worked closely with the electrical engineering firm, Uwe Trepping, from Bergen on this project.

Light and environment in harmony

It is the little green garden-like oases which connect the buildings that gave the ensemble its name. The paths inside the complex follow gently curving lines. KTY234 LED bollards are installed and produce an asymmetric forward throw wide beam [R65] distribution. The paths are illuminated with 100 cm KTY bollards, while the same model with a lower height of 60 cm was used for the area with the green islands. There, the lighting level is somewhat higher to create an eye-catching feature and invite residents to linger.

The luminaires have protection rating IP66 and emit a warm white light of 3000 K. WE-EF 5CE corrosion protection reliably protects the housing from harsh weather conditions, especially from the salty, damp sea air of the island location. Providing a smooth transition, WE-EF ZFT440 pole-top luminaires guide residents out of the complex. They illuminate the paths that become wider with 18 W, and with their asymmetric forward throw wide beam [R65] distribution they meet the higher lighting requirements for this area.

Safety and a pleasant ambience

The lighting concept is both functional and low key. The luminaires illuminate the paths and provide orientation and safety. At the same time, they greatly enhance the outdoor areas of the Billrothgarten complex for residents and visitors alike, and make them more inviting. Thanks to their clear, reduced design, the two different luminaire series complement one another perfectly and blend naturally into the landscape.
